Factors Affecting Upland Farmersí Choice of Local Rice Varieties in Thailand (in Thai)

This study examines factors affecting farmersí choice of popular rice varieties in the upland areas, which would indirectly affects the conservation of upland rice varieties. The interviewed data of 816 farmers from Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Maehongsorn, and Nan were used in the analysis. It was found that the aromatic and high yielding varieties were of favor. The analysis using a structural equation model showed that non-farm income and rice yield were the major affecting farmerís choice, While the environmental constraint had the least influence on the Farmersí Choice
